What To Do in Dubai
As with all of the middle east, the lifestyle dictates a rest period in the middle of the day and late nights of shopping and eating etc. Outside of the malls, many places will be closed in the afternoons for a couple of hours. Friday, being the holy day of the weekend (like Sunday in the west), often will cause limited hours and sometimes places won’t be open at all. I’ve tried to note time specific activities.
Friday and Saturday are the weekend. Most of the middle east used to be Thursday and Friday, but changed one day to suit international business better. Note that there may be special celebrations for Muslim celebrations (both Eids) or various other religions especially Hindu ones. It’s best not to travel in the middle east during Ramadan due to the food restrictions etc.
Honestly, Dubai is about experiences. Eat everything, learn the history, barter and haggle, see the modern marvels, experience the people and cultures, and eat more.
